Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work with 4th grade students in a large urban Title 1 school. Students at my school receive 100% free, reduced lunch and 87% are in a minority population. After 8 years of teaching these amazing students, I couldn't imagine working with any other demographic.

My students strive daily to overcome their own individual adversities, I am so honored and proud to be a part of their success stories.

Each of my students deserves the best, individualized educational experience I can provide.

My Project

Everyone enjoys a little freedom and these fidget bands will provide my students with the ability to "kick" to their hearts content without being a distraction to those around them. Fire tablets are also an amazing way to keep up with the ever changing technological need of every day life. Additionally, the ability for students to work at their own pace and receive immediate feedback will help to know where their weaknesses are to provide areas of focus for remediation time.

Most mornings my students come in with the weight of the world on their shoulders, in my experience even the smallest distraction can make a world of difference.
