Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom has 18 great students. Each student is special and requires different materials and supplies to help them be successful. In our classroom, we speak 4 different languages and have many diverse learning needs. In the morning we are busy in language arts, math, and guided reading group. In the afternoon we get into science and social studies and a little bit of playtime. I have high expectations for my students but getting through our morning takes a lot of stamina. We are energetic and excited to learn. We love to get into hands-on learning. Making big projects and display our work for everyone to see.
My Project
Kindergarten is a busy room. The needs of the students are infinite. With ADHD and autism being everyday challenges with many of my students, I want to make our learning environment the best it can be to suit their needs. I deal with students rocking and falling out of their chairs on a daily basis. Flexible seating will allow my students to wiggle and move as needed safely while keeping their bodies moving, and their minds focused. I have seen the positive affects wiggle chairs can have on students with ADHD, and rocking is a very calming and comfortable motion for students to make as they are working.
