Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you love sitting in a hard plastic chair for long periods of time? My students don't like it either! Help me give my students a new way to sit.
I teach 22 fantastic students at a Title I school in San Jose, CA.
Most of my students are learning English as their second language.
My students love to learn and they are very active. Sometimes their activeness makes it hard for them to concentrate on lessons in the classroom. I need to think out of the box to give them a new way to release their energy in a safe way.
My Project
I am requesting three Hokki Stools for my classroom. A Hokki Stool is a stool with a rounded base. This allows the students to rock and wiggle while they are listening to lessons or completing work. This is a safer alternative to a yoga ball. The balls are hard for young children to sit on and I have visions of my students falling off! The Hokki Stool has a flat seat so students aren't in danger of rolling off! I have two Hokki Stools in my classroom and I saw a dramatic difference in attention abilities for my students who used them last year. I am hoping to slowly get enough Hokki Stools for my entire class!
Hokki Stools with improve my class.
With better focus my students will be able to learn so much more and I will spend less time trying to correct off task behavior. Thank you so much for taking an interest in my students!
