My Project

Our wonderful six-year-olds show up for school eager to learn. They are so excited to be in first grade and bring so much wonderful energy with them. Developmentally, they need to move and groove and should not be sitting still in a chair all day.

To help meet their needs, we have been adding a variety of flexible seating to our classroom over the last two years.

Flexible seating gives students choices to find what works best for them. They are able to find seating that is comfortable and allows them to focus on the important work they're doing instead of feeling stuck in a chair or workspace that doesn't meet their needs.

Our next big step is to add chairs that make it easier for students to bounce or rock without tipping back in their chairs or breaking the chair. These chairs will help to keep our students safe by allowing them to wiggle and rock without the risk of tipping and falling backward in their chairs.
