My Students

I teach 25 amazing and sweet second graders. My students come from various backgrounds with differing economic status. Each student is unique in their own way, as well as sweet and full of life. They are kind and compassionate and have an enthusiastic way of looking at the world around us. They have a passion for learning whether it comes easy to them, or they struggle. Together each day we learn to work hard and give each challenge our best. Together we are learning that mistakes help us learn and prove that we are trying.

My Project

Flexible seating options will allow my students to maintain focus throughout our busy day. With such high academic rigor, students sometimes get restless. Wobble chairs, balance balls, and wobble cushions will give student seating choices and can help them release some energy while doing some of their best critical thinking. They can wiggle and wobble yet still stay focused on their learning. In addition, being able to acknowledge and choose a different seating option gives students control of their learning and can help with behavior as well. Currently, my students have the option to get up and work, shake out their legs, or even walk around to maintain focus. They are gaining the ability and maturity to decide when they need a break in order to maximize their individual learning potential.
