Mrs. Whaley from Winterville NC is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need flexible seating options including balance ball seats and comfy floor seats to help improve our focus skills when learning.

I want my students this year to walk into my classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend. We also have many places donate clothes and school uniforms to our students. Despite so many hardships, I want my student to be eager to learn and do their best. I want them to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.
Have you ever noticed that it's hard to sit still for at least 30 minutes? Students are expected to sit in hard chairs for hours a day while learning. They are then told to complete their work in the same chairs. I chose big comfy floor seats and balance balls for students to choose where they would feel the most comfortable. Students will have the option to choose their seating choice that will help them feel comfortable enough to do their schoolwork. We have some other options already. They can change their seating on a daily basis or even throughout the day. A student can feel like sitting on the balance ball in the morning and after lunch decide they feel more comfortable doing work sitting on the ground chairs with their legs crossed. Making a choice of where they feel comfortable the most to do school work and learning will help relieve some anxiety, especially during tests.
These flexible seating arrangements will help my little wiggle worms be able to focus between and provide a fun way to do their work.
If you go to a coffee shop, such as Starbucks, they don't have all tables with chairs. There is a variety of seating choices because not everyone feels comfortable talking or doing work in a chair at a table. Some people, like myself, like to sit in the big comfortable chair with no table. However, sometimes I like the table and chair seating. Allowing students to have a choice in their learning gives them a sense of responsibility.
My students will be able to choose where they want to sit while completing their classwork. This will give students the capability to choose a space that will allow comfort to them during the day.
