Wiggle While We Work!

My students need options for flexible seating in the classroom. Stability cushions and core stools allow students to wiggle while working! Bed risers will be used to raise tables to allow students the option to stand.

My Students

Each year, I find that my students are more engaged when given the opportunity to move and chose their workspace. In the past, my students had the option to sit at their desks in chairs or on the floor during work time. While the two options offer a choice for students, I want to give more options that better meet the needs of all my students and set them up with tools for success. Classrooms with flexible seating are student-centered and help to meet all students' needs.

My Project

High student engagement and motivation are a priority of mine as an educator, which starts with adapting the design of my classroom to create a safe environment for learning. Traditional classroom seating is an "everyone gets the same" kind of model where kids sit at desks in hard chairs. Not all students are the same. Flexible seating allows students to choose work spots that work best for their unique learning style and needs.

Bodies in Motion = Brains in Motion!

By donating to our project, you will be providing our classroom with seating options that increase student engagement and motivation. Students will be able to choose from raised tables where they can stand, lowered desks where they can sit on stability cushions on the floor, and tables where students can sit on core stools or chairs with stability cushions. All of these options allow students to feel more comfortable and give them an opportunity to wiggle while they work.
