it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a fourth-grade teacher in a Title I school. That means my students come from low socioeconomic households, and for most of them, English is not their first language. 65% of my students are English Language Learners.
Despite challenges, my students come to school each day eager to learn and take charge of their education.
I believe in empowering my students and giving them thrilling and motivating educational experiences that simultaneously improve their math, writing, reading, science and social studies skills.
My Project
Recently, sitting has been deemed "the new smoking". In our classroom, we know that moving while learning helps learning stick (and is WAY more fun). However, sometimes sitting during a lesson or during group work is necessary. Our class already uses a few yoga balls, a rocking chair, and pillows to give students choice about their seating.
Four ottomans and four wobbly chairs will be the perfect addition to a classroom of movers.
Both are more comfortable than chairs and both are totally mobile! A team of four can use them during cooperative learning and later in the day individual students can use one in a cozy place as they read to themselves.
