Every student has the ability to be successful, often it is just helping them discover how to be successful. I teach in an alternative school for students who have difficulties managing and processing their behaviors and emotions. Within my classroom these students have faced behavioral challenges because of their distinct learning needs.
Each day is a new chance to give students the tools necessary to be successful.
As their teacher, I strive to help my students finally experience academic success. This year I was provided with a brand new classroom that did not have any materials. Throughout the year our class has grown and we have learned how we all best learn together. My biggest goal is to help these students understand their sensory, attention, and learning needs so they can best advocate for themselves. While provided with the right tools, I can only imagine all they will achieve.
These seating choices will give my students the ability to choose how they successfully learn throughout our school day. Teaching a population of students that have previously struggled to achieve success is a rewarding experience, especially when the students discover how they learn best. These seating choices will provide my students the ability to to pick a stool, the floor, or a wobble stool.
With these seating choices my students will be learning how to be successful with their sensory needs.
I have seen great success with my students using the standing desks I have available and I know that with more choices we will see even more growth.
