Wiggle While We Learn!

My Students

The children in my classroom are hungry for learning, especially about how things work, where things happen, and why things happen. Many come from poverty, but they are rich with enthusiasm, hope, and creativity.

My students love learning!

Unfortunately, the many required standardized tests can suck the joy out of gaining knowledge and deflate even the most enthusiastic learners. I want to make sure these children have fun and keep a positive attitude toward learning while we prepare for testing.

My Project

How many of us can stay seated in a hard chair all day?

By adding flexible seating in our classroom, we will improve learning and increases focus among our young learners so students can wiggle while they work!

Research has proven that offering choice of chair options improves engagement and attention as well. We added a few seating balls last year and I saw several students improve their attention spans when they were able to move.

After this "test" of flexible seating, we know additional choice will help more students, so we have selected additional wiggle stools because the kids have asked for them, which will help students have a little wiggle room in an appropriate way.
