Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are loving our new school library as they come back for face-to-face instruction. Books line the walls and fill shelves with fiction series, graphic novels, and engaging nonfiction.
Our students may love math and science, but they get hooked on great books.
Reading is such a fundamental part of education that we work to incorporate it into every subject, multiple times a day.
Our diverse student body is far from many community resources. We're excited to be a positive, welcoming part of the neighborhood.
My Project
teach our youngest students who speak a language other than English. We have a lot to do to stay interested in school without it being too overwhelming.
Games are a great resource for my little learners to practice speaking together, build vocabulary, and get more comfortable.
Learning all the parts of English--listening, speaking, reading, writing--doesn't happen overnight, but great tools certainly make it easier. When kids are ready to learn, they need size appropriate seating they won't fall off of (really!) So they can be comfortable working hard. Isn't that what we all need?
