My students need two Hokki stools to help them have an outlet for the wiggles. I am trying to build my collection of stools so I have enough for all of my students.

My students are typical kids in rural Idaho.
Kids here tend to be outside a lot. Families often take advantage of recreation offered in our beautiful environment. Summers and weekends are often spent camping, hunting, canoeing, snow machining, and skiing. Lots of kids live on farms or have parents who work on farms. Our schools are on the older side. We are currently putting lots of band-aids on the leaky roofs and older features. We don't have a lot that feels "modern".
My Project
Sitting in a classroom all day isn't easy. I do my best to ensure students have the opportunity to move often. But, the nature of school does require some sedentary time. With this project, I hope to make seated time as comfortable and active as possible. The Hokki stool is an ergonomic stool that transforms stationary sitting into an activity, ideal for brainstorming sessions and other active sitting environments. Students move, even when they seem to be sitting still. The convex base allows for movement in all directions, which creates an increased sense of well-being and encourages the physical and intellectual maturing process.
I have receive 10 of these stools from previous grants.
My students have begged me to try to get a classroom set. These two additional Hokki stools will help make kids more comfortable while seated in the classroom. They will make them happier and better able to learn. Providing active seating takes a child's need for movement into account, which will show students that they are respected and cared for. In turn, the students will be more likely to respect and care for others.
