This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hi! I teach Kindergarten, in the bilingual program. The majority of my students are experiencing school for the first time, and they are so excited to learn! My students are Spanish speaking, living in a low-income neighborhood, and the majority of my students are receiving free meals during the school day.

Making school a fun place to learn is super important because, for most, kindergarten is their first educational experience.

Many of my students have difficulty sitting still in hard, plastic chairs. These tiny children want to try everything RIGHT NOW and be a part of every activity possible. I love watching them explore and figure things out. They are already growing into awesome little people!

I want to give my students the resources for success. My students will flourish with these flexible seating options. Thank you for your support!

My Project

My students are very young. Some were still 4 when they started with me! They are expected to sit through a long day of learning and focus on difficult concepts. Many of my students have difficulty sitting still in hard, plastic chairs. I have started to get resources such as scoop rockers, trays for the carpet area and even little IKEA stools and tables to help my students get the wiggles out while learning. I have seen an increase in student performance and success, but imagine if I had enough for all my students!

These different seating options like wobble chairs and balance ball seats will greatly improve the focus of the children.

They will be able to choose what fits them at that moment. It would be nice to have more than a few that could sit in special seats. My students will flourish with these flexible seating options. Thank you for your support!
