This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work in a small public charter school with some amazing teachers and some even more amazing students. My students always amaze me with their smiles, positive attitudes and willingness to try. I love going to work each day and guiding them through our lessons and watching them light up when they "Get It".

My students are inquisitive, wiggly and full of energy.

They keep me on my toes and thanks to them we both continue to learn each day we spend together.

My Project

The use of flexible seating could make a difference in how and what my students learn. Children learn in different ways some learn by doing, some learn by listening and some learn by moving. For this reason I want to give my students every opportunity to make decisions on how and where they learn. The Jaxx indoor/outdoor ottomans will be helpful in my quiet area and in place of a chair. They will allow the student to wiggle and move around without tipping a chair or disturbing others.

Taking charge of their own learning and realizing how they learn best will benefit my students for their entire educational career.

As a teacher I know children do not learn by sitting in a chair for extended periods of time. They require options and opportunities to choose where to sit and learn best. By choosing to use a Chair Ball or a Neorok Stool students are using choice to direct their learning and success.
