Wiggle Room: From Head to Toe

My Students

My class this year is an energetic, wiggly bunch. They were first graders when COVID closed the school halfway through the year. Last year, there were still several who continued to learn at home. For several students, this is their first full year of school in-person! COVID has affected their social and emotional learning.

My Project

My students will be able to learn and grow in their social skills and better understand their emotions with the support of the Little Spot book collection. My students love books, as do I! The books will be part of mini lessons, and then put on the class' monthly bookcase to read and reread.

Now that the wiggles are settling in their minds, it's time to get their bodies in motion with the adjustable height wobble chairs and the balance board.

My students sure do like to rock and roll! Now they can do that safely, while strengthening their ability to work hard in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. They will also be able to choose to work on the floor with the portable lap desks. Sometimes sitting on the floor is just the grounding the mind and body need to get to work.
