This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school was established in 1928 and has been serving a small community for many generations. It is a Title I school where a lot of my students qualify for the reduced price or free lunch program. Many students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. There are 16 different languages spoken at my school. Most are English language learners, speaking English as their second language.
My 5-year-old kindergarten students usually come into kindergarten not knowing much, but it's amazing to watch them learn and grow over the school year.
Many students say they are having so much fun that they want to come to school even on weekends.
My Project
My young kindergarten students have a hard time sitting still. My students keep showing me how they love to move around. Often times I see kids falling off the chair because they're not sitting properly. My students love sitting on my teacher chair with wheels to move around. One of them said, "Mrs. P! I wish I could have a moving chair like you!"
Many of the students had great ideas that we have already implemented in the classroom - including a standing table and wobble cushions.
One of the kids said we should get chairs with wheels for everyone. We also have 2 ball chairs that we take turns sitting while we are on the rug, but we need more options for everyone to stay active. As we researched flexible seating, we came across the perfect "kid-inspired" answer to doing our work and still being able to move - wobble chairs!
Wobble chairs are the perfect answer to helping the kids work and still stay active for more than 60 minutes a day!
Also this fun disco light portable speaker system will bring excitement and motivation to stay active throughout the day by having music played while the kids have a dance party and exercise, both indoor and outdoor.
