Help me give my students flexible seating with these wobble seats. These seats will help to keep my students engaged and focused while learning and at the same time let them get their wiggles out and move.
Imagine trying to listen to one voice while the TV is on, the radio is playing in another room, and your sisters are arguing. That is what it is like for a child with ADHD to try to focus on their teacher's voice. I teach 4th grade, and many students in my class struggle with ADHD. They love to learn and come to school each day ready to tackle the world, but their ADHD gets in the way of them reaching their potential. It pains me to see them struggle, and I want them to have every opportunity to help them succeed. My kiddos are all unique in their own way, and I am their biggest cheerleader.
My Project
Flexible seating will allow my students to take charge of their learning. My goal is to minimize their struggle to focus and pay attention. This is something new that I am trying in my classroom. Research indicates that flexible seating increases attention to task and increases focus during lessons. This, in turn, will increase the confidence in my kiddos and help them to feel success instead of frustration. You'll be able to walk in my room and see my students standing, sitting in a chair, sitting on wobble balls, or sitting in these wobble stools. Regardless, you will see my kiddos working and engaged in their learning. As these stools will provide them with the ability to wiggle around, be comfortable, and be attentive to the lessons.
