My Project

Flexible seating will provide an opportunity for my 5th-grade students to understand their bodies, take charge of their learning, and make the best decisions for themselves. My students enjoy moving around the classroom during independent or buddy reading/work; however, they are limited to sitting on a hard carpet surface and/or near the teacher's desk.

Our school does not have the funding to provide flexible seating to all classrooms, and as a 5th-grade teacher, I find myself prioritizing my money on what supplies I can buy and give to my students.

Unfortunately, flexible seating becomes costly, and I am not able to afford the luxury of a variety of seats in my classroom. I would love to give my students the resources and tools they need to foster their engagement and learning.

Flexible seating would be a game-changer in my 5th-grade ELA/Writing/Reading Class. It would not only be beneficial for my 504 kids but also for the typical 5th grader needing movement as their academics become more rigorous. In addition, traditional elementary desks are often very uncomfortable and small for a 5th grader’s growing body.

Thank you for your consideration in helping me purchase flexible seating such as floor seats, balance balls, and stools for my classroom! It would truly be a blessing.
