Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
With being a multilingual learner comes lots of challenges and more responsibilities. From helping at home to showing proficiency at school can be overwhelming on students. Every year, multilingual students who are identified as ESL (English as a Second Language) have to take the WIDA ACCESS assessment to show how proficient they have become within one year of learning the new language.
The WIDA ACCESS assessment, assesses students in four domains: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
These separate assessments are very time consuming and difficult for them. It has been said that regular education students would have a difficult time scoring proficient-- let alone our students who have had limited time learning the English language.
In order to ease their stress and provide some comfort, we are asking for donations for snacks as we get close to our assessment time.
