This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In pottery, a slump mold is concave and hump mold is convex. The students will use the molds to apply mathematic and physics terminology while learning how molds allow for constancy, and uniformity. Each student will make a concave bowl with an attached handle inside and a convex bowl with an applied foot to the bottom. It is my goal with the use of the molds to show the students they can produce work with stronger qualities of refinement and craftsmanship.
I love to see the a-ha moments in my students when they are able to master a hand-building skill in clay.
Clay offers sensory integration, motor skill development, and a platform for creative expression and self-esteem building. With your support I can reach a classroom full of diverse learners allowing each student to feel a strong sense of accomplishment.
