Ms. S. from MD is requesting reading nooks, desks & storage through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students sturdier and cleaner tables. Right now, we are using desks that have been in the school for at least two. The desks are different heights, some are wobbly, some have been painted.

Tiny, inquisitive sparks from the universe is how I describe my students. They ask questions that oftentimes cause me to look further into something. Despite living in Baltimore, these students are resilient kids who love reading and doing math. Each day they enter the oasis (that what I like to call our room) and they know that they are free to explore and create and ask and learn and practice and stumble and everything will still be okay.
I want to create an experience for them when they come to me so that years from now when they are nestled in their careers and creative exploits, they will remember the time they spent in the oasis!
Right now our classroom feels like a mash up of several different places. I want to make it more cohesive and uniform so that it makes it a happier place to learn. I want my students to feel a sense of pride when they enter the classroom instead of having to work with bent and damaged desks while they are trying to focus on these works.
Have you ever tried to focus on learning at a wobbly table?
The tables that you help us purchase will also allow us more top surfaces so that we can create more learning spaces like a science center or sensory station to help provide opportunities for them to blow off a little steam.
