My Project
This semester, I am teaching Multicultural Literature for the first time. I want my students to read Born a Crime by Trevor Noah because of its relatability and themes. There is a young reader's edition that is perfect for teen readers. The language and structure of this edition make it accessible to younger readers, ensuring that they can connect with the material on a personal level while also improving their reading comprehension, critical thinking, and empathy.
Unfortunately, my school is unable to purchase a class set.
As a result, I am asking for the help of the community.
My students are a remarkable group of young individuals who are curious, resilient, and eager to learn. They are the ideal audience for a book like Born a Crime: Young Readers Edition. This book will not only resonate with them but also help them see that their stories, like Trevor Noah's, have the power to change the world.
By integrating this book into our curriculum, I hope to encourage students to think critically about their own identities and the social issues that impact their communities. Additionally, I want to foster a love for reading by introducing them to a captivating story that resonates with their experiences and challenges them to think beyond their immediate surroundings.
