Science labs are changing, and materials are needed to be effective in the lab. Last year we, (the Science team), were given notice that there would be NYS-mandated labs for the students to complete and show proficiency in over their time in middle school. There are 4 labs to complete and all of them require materials. The science budget is non-existent.
The state has mandated the labs but has not provided the materials for us to be successful in administering them; so that's where you come in!
These kits will provide the framework for successfully setting up and performing these labs. Most of the materials are reusable too. I am hoping that getting these kits will make it easier to do the labs, and then replacement pieces can be purchased separately as needed. This project provides materials for two of the four state labs, and unless something breaks - this will be the ONLY time I need to request these labs. So, I know the project says it will benefit 300 students, but that's just this year; If these materials are properly taken care of, they could be used indefinitely!
