This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an enrichment class of students identified as gifted and we love using the engineering design process to solve problems. I have always been fascinated with Rube Goldberg and I would love for my students to learn about him and work toward designing and building a contraption that does a task. I plan on using these materials with my fourth and fifth grade students.

Not only will the materials from the kits be used to build their projects, but there are key science concepts students will apply through the hands-on and experiential trials as they try to make their masterpieces work.

The students will be reinforcing what they have learned about force, motion, potential and kinetic energy, transfer of energy, inertia, as well as the important elements of simple machines.
