This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have three levels of baseball at our school: freshman, jv, and varsity. Our athletes train all year around and are as diverse as our school population. We are over 50% Hispanic, with more than 50% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch because the live below or at the poverty line. We have 12 different languages spoken at our school including Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Ukranian, Turkish, Egyptian, Arabic, Farsi, Indian, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Our baseball teams are a hard working group of young men who strive to achieve both academically and athletically.
My Project
My varsity baseball team needs a good set of baseballs for practice. These baseballs are designed to develop maximum strength and drive through the hitting zone. The optimum use is when the front toss method; with its weighted design, we start out slowly with 3 to 6 solid hits and increase to maximum of 18 to 24 in one hitting session.
These baseballs have been engineered to help my batters increase their distance by giving immediate feedback and being weighted so that when they are swinging against a normal baseball they will be using more strength which allows the ball to go further.
