My students are creative, imaginative, and hardworking. They come to school each day eager and ready to learn. They practice letters and sounds all day as they are working to become readers. We incorporate reading into every part of our day. In kindergarten, they are at the very beginning of their journey as life-long learners. They are five and six years old and filled with curiosity and excitement about each new thing. They naturally want to share, ask questions, and play using imaginative play. Science, hands-on activities and animals are always popular subjects in our classroom.
They are learning to apply their knowledge and make connections using letters to sound out words, and start the journey into becoming independent lifelong readers, writers, and scientist .
My Project
These materials will make a difference in students learning by building engagement in our content. Students can use the books and puppets to retell stories and create stories of their own. The buttons for example, will be used in crafts, for stringing, and patterns after reading a class favorite Corduroy.
Student engagement is so important, and providing resources to connect topics across multiple content areas has proven to be so valuable in my classroom.
I want to create learning experiences that my students will remember for years to come. I want to provide opportunities for students to learn as they play.
