My students need basketball equipment to be able to practice fundamental skills during their physical education classes. This is the only time many of our students have the availability of basketball resources.

My Students
We are a Title I school in a small rural community. The school is the center of the community and the kids are the community's prime focus. Our school is 70% Free/Reduced lunch. We provide free breakfast and lunch to all students.
Our students are resilient and are hard workers.
They come to school eager to learn and willing to try any challenge we put in front of them. Our students deserve the best and our staff strives to give them that.
My Project
My students will use the basketballs and ball rack purchased through this project to practice fundamental basketball skills during their physical education time. We do not currently have the resources in our elementary building for younger students to practice fundamental skills.
Scientists have been able to link an increase in brain activity with physical activity through research.
My students' love for basketball will motivate them to actively participate in physical activity if we have the resources needed to practice basketball at the elementary level. With the increase in physical activity, the students will experience an increase in brain activity which will in return increase academic performance.
