My students need a way to organize dry erase materials for whole group learning. They can use the markers and boards to quickly answer as we go through the material and store them on the shelf.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have only known my students for a short while, but I know, already, that they are inquisitive and eager to learn. Our school is in a low-income area and students qualify for free lunch. My students do not always have the extra supplies to add to their learning.
Our school is located in a military town.
We have students who have parents serving on two military bases. This creates a transient environment, but we also have students who have been in some of the local neighborhoods all of their elementary years.
My Project
When going over a standard, sometimes it is best to check and see if they can give examples in a formative assessment of what has been taught before moving forward. Right now, we use sticky notes and this can seem wasteful at times. I hope to get materials, such as the paddle dry erase boards, markers, and erasers, to have the students be able to give me examples and answers quickly so we can continue to learn ahead, or revisit an area that is needed.
Time is so precious in the school day and there is never enough.
My goal is to have these materials ready to go on the tiered shelf to wheel around and pass out first thing before we get started.
The artboard will be used to create anchor charts or interactive areas where students can add to it through the day to reinforce their learning. Also, there will be a Chromecast adapter for the computer so that when students are working on devices, they can share their work instantly to the board to share with the class. All of the materials need a home which is why we are asking for the movable shelf so that students can get to the items they need with ease.
