My Project

My third-grade students start the new year as tentative readers. They have mastered the basics but now need to grow their skills and learn how to maintain interest in extended stories.

Chapter books can be a bit intimidating for growing readers.

By modeling my love of reading through whole-class novel studies, I teach my students to get involved and stay involved in a chapter book. Being able to follow along in their own copy of the book is an amazing plus in helping them develop a passion for reading!

Class sets of books are hard to come by when you shop the second-hand stores. A book for every student would be valuable beyond belief!
