This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth grade classroom consists of 24 students who are motivated and excited about learning. As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district (87% poverty rate), I know my students face many economic hardships at home. Their families are not always able to provide the supplies they need.
My Project
My students love playing Dodgeball, but some of them get scared when the ball comes near them. Many opt-out and watch the game because they don't want to get hurt. I want to be able to provide lessons that will allow everyone to participate and enjoy.
With the requested materials, students will be able to play Castle Ball, which integrates the practice of dodgeballs without the human targets.
Students will be working together to build a structure (castle), out of hula hoops, and use the foam balls to make the other team's structure fall. Students will be working together, which will also lead to team-building activities.
