My Project
I have really been focusing on helping students to find the right book. I teach them these four little things: 1) find an author you like, 2) find a series you like 3) ask a friend if they've read a good book, and 4) find an award winning book. Students who can select their own books, read more. Students who read more can increase comprehension, fluency, and their vocabulary. We are raising reading scores through independent reading and student recognition of their reading achievements.
It is working, they will read anything if I tell them it's a series!
I recognize students on the morning show when they finish a series and when they reach a million words read, they can join my Millionaire Club. Right now, I am working with a two dollar background and some borrowed props. A friend recently told me about a money gun at her daughter's wedding, and I was like, "I have to get that for my Millionaires!" So, I'm requesting these items for my Millionaire Club, and a few extra props for alter egos, The Book Fairy and Grandma Reads. I'm just trying to motivate kids any silly way I can!
