My students need math flash cards to memorize; the math test-taking strategies cassette to practice procedures; and the mastering basic math skills book to complete.

My Students
According to the documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim, students in the United States rank number 25 amongst students from other countries when it comes to math. Students in Korea rank number two and students from Japan rank number six.
My students come to school with little knowledge about the world around them.
These children are community housed and seldom have the experiences needed to develop real world math capabilities. However, when given materials, these students soar. For example, our school received a grant to distribute fruit and vegetables to the students daily. We used apples, oranges, bananas and grapes to teach students about weights, measurements, developing and using tally charts, and other mathematical concepts. There were so many ways in which we used healthy foods to teach these students math skills. Not surprisingly, the students got it.
My Project
The students need a “Fraction Flash Card” set; they can partner share the cards and recall the facts to each other. Students really enjoy peer instruction. They also need the “Math Test-Taking Strategies Cassettes” to review and practice mathematical procedures; many of my students are audio learners. Then the “Fold-A-Shape Classroom Kit” would be a great tool for the students who are kinesthetic and love to work with their hands.
I am asking for your help in providing the math items the children need.
They can rise above the twenty five ranking level. These students are enthusiastic about learning and they are smart. They need hands-on experiences to develop mathematical skills. To reach their full potential, they need our help.
