My Students

My students have the brightest smiles! They just want people to give them a chance after high school! We love to think about the future and imaging a successful life after graduation. These kids just want everyone to see their ABILITY, not their disability.

My Project

In order to run our coffee shop successfully, we need to use technology that the students would need to use in a real word situation. This includes an iPad with the use of a simple app that they can become familiar with that simulates a cash register/taking orders. We hope doing it this way lets us become more familiar with how our students can fit into everyday work life and make money on their own! The iPad will help coach our students on taking orders from customers, ringing in the order correctly, and balancing the transactions at the end of the day. With this project we will be able to work on very valuable work skills as well as become familiar with technology, coming down to just being responsible to charge what you need for the next days business. We would be able to use this iPad not only in our coffee shop but as well as in our classroom during math circles as well as practicing our reading /sight word skills.
