My Project
Our school, like so many, has harsh overhead lighting in all of our classrooms. While this lighting effectively lights the space, the light is overwhelming. Many studies have shown that this is not the best possible lighting for classroom learning. I would love to be able to turn off my overhead lights and replace them with some warmer lighting options.
Having lighting options in the classroom would greatly benefit our learning environment.
In addition, my school building has new windows with a dark tint to help keep our classrooms cool. While they are cooler, hardly any sunlight gets through. Having lighting options that provide exposure to 10,000 lux of light will help combat seasonal affective disorder in the fall and winter months.
These lighting options are not only beneficial to our eyes but also to our brains and overall well-being. We are more calm and able to focus when the lighting is soft rather than harsh overhead lights.
