Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in a 90 percent free lunch school. We have 70 percent of our students are learning English as a second language. We also are a high academic achieving school. We have high test scores and our reaching even higher.

The outdoor kindergarten playground is home to over 100 children. We currently have two tricycles that are missing pedals and two balls that the teachers purchased last year, that we share with the special education classroom as well. Two years ago the scooter was removed from the yard because the tire had worn down and sparks were coming off the wheel as the children rode it. We have no budget for equipment and 100 children with two bikes and two balls does not make a happy play yard. In fact it is often frustrating to the children.

We need an additional tricycle to help disperse the congestion at the bike track and the arguments amongst the students. The school bikes are very expensive however they are the only style of bike that will accommodate our needs. We need them to be durable because we have over 100 children in the yard daily.

Your donation would mean a great improvement to the overall school environment. The students will have more opportunities to ride bikes and exercise during their outdoor time because they will not be waiting so long to ride bikes or play balls. This would be an amazing asset to many students. Your donation would reach over 100 students.
