My students need to improve their reading skills and their math skills in real world situations, so I have requested two magazine subscriptions to support their learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember having to do math problems and wondering, "When am I ever going to need this?" My students are learning where math will be used in their daily lives.
My students are from a neighborhood that often finds a way to bring them down.
They do not always find a way to relate what they are learning in school to what they need in the real world. My students love to learn and are always interested in finding new ways to learn.
My Project
With the magazines that I am requesting, I am offering my students a way to expand their math skills to real world situations. The Dynamath magazine is a great way for students to practice reading and then answering math questions to go along with that reading. The requested Scholastic News and Science Spin magazines will help students with their reading comprehension while also letting students have experience with current events. STEM is a really big part of their future and these magazines will help my students meet that future.
STEM is where our nation is headed and with the help of these magazines, my students will have all the experience they can get.
