This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

If you have ever seen anyone use jump bands, you will know why kids love them. Do you remember going to the circus and seeing the jugglers? Juggling is a great way to work on eye-hand coordination. And who doesn't want to keep track of their heart rate? Everyone does!

I teach Physical Education in a high poverty inner city public school in Indiana.

Our school has almost 600 students, K-6, who love Physical Education! I see every student twice a week. We rarely go outside to play, and I want to teach the students how to exercise inside. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they could then go home and teach their families what they've learned. By doing this, the entire family will be exercising together, and everyone would be in shape! Help me help them with childhood obesity!

My Project

The students love jump bands. I have shown them clips of students using jump bands, and they really want some now. The jump bands are a great way to exercise, and this activity will give their heart a workout! The heart rate monitors will help the kids track their heart rates. Last year we borrowed some juggling items, and the students loved them. They have been asking me to borrow them again, but it is hard to find someone who has them. Juggling is also a great way to work on eye-hand coordination. .

Donations to this project will help over 600 students in my school get on the right road to do their part to fight childhood obesity.

With your help we can get our students on the right track to start their own fitness program. Students will benefit from this program for many years to come. Teaching the students the importance of staying in shape is the key to their future. Thank you for considering our project!
