This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at an evolving urban middle school. We are a traditional 6th through 8th-grade school that has undergone an incredible change in the last four years. We have grown to almost 600 students and our school has become a tight-knit community as we have faced the challenges of both the last two years and this one!

Our students are learning how to advocate for themselves and celebrate who they are and their own backgrounds.

As a staff, we take great pride in empowering them and embracing the things that make them special. These kids are going to change the world!

My Project

The Outsiders may be one of the best books ever written for middle school students. For those of us of a certain era, it will always be one of our favorites. The current class set in our building has seen better days- which happens when it is so much loved and well read.

Please help us get a new class set of The Outsiders for our Book-to-Film class!

We know they will love it and with your help, we can get copies in their hands before they get to see the movie.
