Whiteboards: Wiping Away the Fear of Making Mistakes
Help me give my students a stress-free learning environment that allows them to wipe away mistakes as they take risks and use creativity while learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am entering my second year of teaching. I am a First-Grade teacher at a Tile 1 elementary school. I had a lot of items and furniture to invest in last year to fill my classroom, which is a portable. I inherited some chipped, discolored whiteboards that are probably older than I am, and would love nothing more than to be able to provide my students new boards that motivate them to explore with and engage in writing and arithmetic.
I love inviting my students to our carpet for an intimate and relaxed learning environment.
This set up heavily relies on the use of white boards. Utilizing white boards also lets me easily watch students in action and gage progress by asking them to lift up their boards.
Please help me provide my students the opportunity to efficiently learn in a comfortable, cooperative way, while also allowing them the room to grow through their mistakes by simply wiping away mistakes and trying again.
