This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting whiteboards, markers, and some supplies to replace a few items that were lost the past year that are essential to help students learn at home and in school. This includes the pen for my drawing tablet and the carrying case so that I can bring it home and to work again as the need arises. The whiteboards and markers will be the key part of their learning in the last part of this school year, and the whiteboards will be important to their learning for years to come. Microfiber cloths are my favorite whiteboard erasers.

After losing so much the past couple of years the emotional toll that so many of our students are going through has made learning any subject, let alone math, such a struggle for them.

Their learning has suffered greatly during this time, and I have spent this entire school year trying to find ways to help them through this. I recently discovered a method of teaching that utilizes the use of whiteboards. Not the ones that they have at their desk, but ones they use around the classroom, getting students out of their seats, exploring, discovering and asking questions. I do not have enough for everyone to use currently.

As a teacher I have also felt the despair of what has gone on. I love teaching and felt as if my world had crashed around me. This new method has breathed life into my teaching and excitement in my students. They are smiling more than I have seen all year, and they are learning. This request will address their social, emotional, and mental well-being and greatly impacts the loss of learning that has happened as a result of the current pandemic.
