My Students
I teach in a small Title I neighborhood school tucked between tree-lined streets, just blocks from the freeway and busy city intersections. 85% or more of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My class includes English Language Learners, Gifted and Talented students, and Special Needs students. They are energetic and curious! They come to school with a variety of experiences and benefit from hands-on learning where they can engage in the 4 C's of 21st Century Learning; Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity.

My Project
One of the challenges of Distance Learning is the loss of interaction between students and the teacher. One way to bridge this challenge is through the use of whiteboards. The use of whiteboards and extra dry-erase markers will allow students to show their thinking and teachers to informally access understanding. For example, during Math, instead of using several pages of paper on their notebooks, students can use the whiteboard to share their math strategies with their peers and teacher. Sharing strategies acknowledge the variety of ways available to reach a solution. The notebooks will be used for their independent work.
These basic Distance Learning materials will help students interact online and learn from one another.
