My Students

My students consist of 24 elementary school children during the school day and various fourth and fifth-grade students in my after-school programs. They always come to school with smiles on their faces and continue to make me laugh. They come from various backgrounds and some have limited opportunities due to financial means.

My students love to be at school, love to learn, have fun, and appreciate verbal praise as well as working toward earning rewards in the classroom.

In addition,​ they love to do one thing the most, free write.

My Project

Within my classroom I encourager my fourth grade students to be exploratory learners that are aware that risk taking is encouraged. One thing great about teaching with whiteboards is that it allows students to try out what they have learned. Unlike when using a notebook, if they made an error it is easily erasable and starting over is simple. However, the whiteboards in my classroom are no longer in working condition due to cracks and being used on a daily basis. Our class can really benefit from new whiteboards. In addition, having a wobble stool will allow students to be rewarded, because it is a privilege to use, when taking risks in their work. This will teach a message to students that taking risks is a great thing.
