My Project

This year marks the third year I’ve spent with my now 9th grade students who have mild/moderate disabilities. They’re a wonderful bunch with a lot of personality but when they sit in their general education classes they try to be invisible. They tell me they’re afraid to make mistakes and especially terrified at the idea of asking a question even when they don’t understand what to do in class.

In order to help them, they need whiteboards and markers so they can ask questions or give answers for teacher feedback.

I’ve seen this work when teachers occasionally use this strategy but my students need these materials so they can use them all the time. When my students have a regular chance to participate and get teacher feedback they will learn what the rest of the class is and feel amazing when they do! This will increase their learning and their confidence in themselves to keep learning.

Please help me give these low tech supplies to a bunch of students who need a way to communicate their questions and their answers to their general education teachers. I know these simple tools will have a huge impact. Thank you for your support!
