My Students

In my classroom, I consistently emphasize the importance of a growth mindset. Although they are all in the same grade, not all of my students have the same goals. Some are learning to speak, read and write in English. Others are working on developing confidence in their capabilities. Some are working towards building stamina when it comes to academics or self-control. All of their goals are wonderful, and as a teacher, my goal is to help them reach their highest level of achievement while celebrating their progress.

As a class, we not only work on academic skills but also creating an environment of comradery and support.

My students are encouraged to celebrate their differences and value them. I openly speak to them about my experiences as an English language learner and encourage them to see their differences as beautiful, their challenges as opportunities, and every day as a chance to grow and try again.

My Project

These materials will serve two main purposes; to create an engaging and functional learning environment, and to make our classroom feel more like a home.

Most of my incoming 2nd grade students have not been to school since the middle of their kindergarten year.

By creating a very orderly, personalized, and warm classroom environment, I hope to make this transition as seamless and fun as possible.

A whiteboard where they can come participate hands on, a callendar just for birthdays, a classroom callendar to help my students keep track of important events while brushing up on their months and days of the week. Some bins to organize our classroom library, and double sided tape to hang up student work.

We are in for a wonderful year of learning, fun, and a renewed sense of belonging.
