This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a comprehensive learning community dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment where students can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. All students will receive an education that places a premium on relationships, engagement with the wider community, and scholarship.

I have the honor of being able to teach almost the whole student body.

I will mainly be teaching Pre-K through 4th grade, consisting of about 500 students. Most of our students live in the neighborhood (Williamsburg, Brooklyn). Our students are active and excited to come to P.E.!

My Project

I am so excited to be joining my school's community this year! My goal is to develop physically literate children who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of physical activity. We will be learning movement concepts, fitness components, sports-related skills, cooperative learning, and nutrition.

I am working along side another Physical Education teacher.

We are excited to able to offer our students Physical Education twice a week this year due to having an additional PE teacher in the school.

In order to make space for my teaching schedule, I will be teaching in the cafeteria. This whiteboard/cork board and basic printer will allow me to give proper instruction and structure to my lessons. Specifically, I will utilize the whiteboard to write "Today's Goal" for every class so students are always able to know what we will be working on for the day. On the cork board side, I will create a word wall with words from our current unit. I will be using the printer for various reasons- mainly to print self and peer assessments for students to work on. In addition, I will be using the printer to keep the cafeteria space full of visuals.
