Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are eager and excited to learn Math! I teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade Math in Cleveland, Ohio. They attend school in the inner city but that does not stop them from coming to school regularly, ready to learn. Many of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and they all receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students require differentiation and learn from a variety of methods.

It is imperative for me to recognize their learning differences and provide them with instruction that will meet their needs. It can be challenging to accomplish this without the proper tools, materials and resources.

My Project

My district is starting the upcoming school year with remote learning for at least the first quarter. This project will provide a large dry erase board with markers and erasers to be used in my home. Once we return to school, we will still be able to use these supplies!

It is imperative to me as a math teacher to provide step by step visual explanations to my students during this time.

It is so important for my students to see how problems are solved. The dry erase board will allow me to show examples and explanations quickly. I will be able to address specific student questions immediately and provide them with feedback.
