Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is full of diverse students who are growing and learning in a positive, tight knit, school community that inspired me to become a special educator. They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They will grow and change in amazing ways and I learn from them each and every day. I believe that children grow and learn best in a safe environment that provides opportunities to explore, create and communicate with other children and adults.
In our classroom, many students are diagnosed with various disabilities, in addition to ADHD and behavioral difficulties, which greatly impacts their learning success and attention to tasks.
These students often have a difficult time focusing and struggle to be their best learning selves in a traditional classroom environment.
Many of our students come from low socio-economic backgrounds with limited access to resources and the support they need to be successful in our school community.
My Project
My students learn in so many different ways. Some require more hands-on instruction to stay engaged and focused. My students enjoy working together during small group work, completing math tasks or guided reading. A whiteboard table will make it easier to work with these students up close while keeping them focused and engaged to task at hand.
A whiteboard kidney table would give me a place to teach while remaining engaged with my students.
A whiteboard kidney table would change the dynamic in our classroom and get students more involved and engaged during small group work, conferencing, and individual activities.
