My students need the Whisperphone Select in order to work in small groups. This way we can hear each other and help each other quickly without disturbing others.
My students are the typical Third graders who need room to read out loud and hear themselves read. We are a low income, school wide Title 1 school district. We have 100% Free and Reduced lunch.
We are located on the an Indian Reservation in the Pacific Northwest.
We have one class for each grade in school from Preschool to Eighth grade. The students are happy and willing to learn. I am lucky to teach only 17 kids this year and they all love school.
My Project
The use of Whisperphones will be a daily activity in my classroom in Math and Reading. Using the workshop model in reading and math, students will come to the my table with whisperphones for guided practice and and individual help. The whisperphones will allow me to hear exactly what they are doing, as well as provide quick support to them. The key the system that I am asking funding for is that is primarily for small group work. When the students cannon hear each other or I cannot hear them I have a more difficult time of teaching them. With the Whisperphones students will be able to hear themselves read, hear me respond to their reading and ideas, and help each other quickly, quietly and privately!!
You can be the deciding factor in chance for my kids to hear and be completely involved in the instruction they are given, which will give them a headstart in be life-long learners.
Students will be able to simply focus on the reading and math at hand increasing their chances of internalizing the content that they are learning in class.
