My students need a class set of Learning Loft Toobaloo Auditory Feedback Phones. These phones will help accelerate reading fluency- which is a big second grade goal!
I have 25 second grade students. They are super excited and great kids. They have a varying level of abilities and come from a variety of backgrounds. This is a very special class because I looped with them (so I was their first grade teacher too)!
Second graders love school!
My goal is to foster and instill a lifelong love of learning in them. We set classroom goals and work together to help achieve these goals. We celebrate successes and work hard to build our weaknesses into strengths. We are a big family and we are all so excited to spend two years together.
My second graders live in a rural district that is quickly growing. They come from diverse backgrounds. I want to provide them all with a safe and fun learning environment.
My Project
Fluency is a big goal to achieve for second grade readers. These Toobaloo Auditory Feedback Phones would enable my entire class to work on fluency simultaneously. Reading aloud can be distracting to the readers close by, but Toobaloo Phones allow for students to whisper and hear themselves clearly without the noisy disruption.
To become a fluent reader, it is vital to practice reading aloud.
A class set would allow each of my students to keep a Toobaloo Phone in their reading boxes. They would be able to practice reading aloud during Workshop and any other time of day without bothering their neighbor. Achieving fluency rate is hard work and it takes a lot of practice. These phones would help give my students the needed practice they deserve. The time spent reading aloud would help increase their reading levels and confidence in reading.
