Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My second graders are reading for 30 minutes a day in class. It can get a bit loud when there are 21 voices going off at the same time. In order for students to practice reading it's important that they not disturb others around them.

My students love to read and our classroom library has over 500 books.

My students love to read in the library during centers and recess. They would love it even more if they could whisper the words the are reading. Our school is located on the south side of Chicago in a poor community.

My Project

In order for students enjoy the books in our library please donate to this project!!!!! Students will enjoy independent reading more with whisper phones! My students need to practice reading out loud in order to become fluent readers. Having whisper phones in the classroom is the only way to get 21 students practicing and becoming better at fluency.

Your donation will make a difference in my students reading abilities because they will be able to hear themselves read out loud and be able to self correct while reading.

Students will also be able to practice phonemic strategies.
